In the early hours of March 26, 2024, tragedy struck in the Baltimore community when a cargo ship lost power and rammed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge, resulting in its collapse.

The Francis Scott Key Bridge first became a landmark in Baltimore in March 1977 as the final link in I-695 (the Baltimore Beltway). The 1.6-mile Key Bridge crosses over the Patapsco River where Francis Scott Key was inspired to write the words of the Star Spangled Banner.

The Maryland LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce and the Maryland LGBTQ+ Foundation are broken-hearted for our community and are keeping everyone impacted by this tragedy in our thoughts and prayers as we mourn those we lost in this accident.

Baltimorean people will get through this together as the strong, tightknit community that we are. If you are struggling during this time, please reach out. Every member of the chamber and foundation are here to support our community in any way possible.

Stay strong, Baltimore. Our prayers and hearts are with you.
